This Vyasa-puja lecture on Visvanatha Cakravarti Thakur's seventh Gurv-astakam verse (saksad dharitvena samasta-sastrair) is full of profound points. Swami explains that the dawn of faith comes not from ourselves but from above: Krsna's mercy descending to us and manifesting as Sri Guru and sastra. With keen penetration, he describes the qualities of Sri Guru in relation to his being directly God (saksad dharitvena) and, more, in relation to his being dear to the Lord (priya eva tasya).
